Li Na is known for being a rebel-on the court and off. The 30-year-old from the central province of Hubei became the first Asian-born tennis player to win a singles Grand Slam championship in 2011 and will be China's wealthiest tennis star to hit the Olympic courts.

李娜以性格叛逆聞名，不論是在場內還是在場外。30歲的李娜來自中國中部省份湖北，在2011年成爲第一位贏得大滿貫(Grand Slam)單打冠軍的亞洲網球選手，在參加奧運會的中國網球明星中，她是最富有的一位。

Ms. Li defied her country's state-run sports program, which forced her to hand over 65% of her winnings, in 2008, when she left the Soviet-style program to start her own team, find her own sponsors, and pocket her own earnings.

李娜在2008年脫離了要求她上交逾65%獎金的國家隊，成立了自己的團隊，自己尋找贊助商，並將獎金悉數納入自己的口袋。

Companies such as Nike, Visa, and Haagen-Daaz, have been showering Ms. Li with endorsement deals, making her one of the highest-paid female athletes, according to data compiled by Forbes magazine.

At her last Olympic showing during the 2008 Beijing Summer Games, Ms. Li lost a match that would have won her a bronze medal. She will try again in London, an event which many believe will be her last Olympics and final shot at taking home a medal.
