youth is not a time of life, it is a state of mind ; it is not rosy cheeks, red lips and supple knees, it is a matter of the emotions : it is thefreshness ; it is the freshness of the deep springs of life .

youth means a temperamental predominance of courage over timidity of theappetite , for adventure over the love of ease. this often exists in a man of 60more than a boy of 20 . nobody grows old merely by a number of years . we growold by deserting our ideals.

years wrinkle the skin , but to give up enthusiasm wrinkles the soul .worry , fear , self –distrust bows the heart and turns the spirit back to dust.

whether 60 of 16 , there is in every human being ‘s heart the lure ofwonders, the unfailing childlike appetite of what’s next and the joy of the gameof living . in the center of your heart and my heart there’s a wireless station: so long as it receives messages of beauty , hope ,cheer, courage and powerfrom men and from the infinite, so long as you are young .

when the aerials are down , and your spirit is covered with snows ofcynicism and the ice of pessimism, then you are grown old ,even at 20 , but aslong as your aerials are up ,to catch waves of optimism , there is hope you maydie young at 80.

Good morning everyone, it's my pleasure to be here and talk about dreamsand ambitions with you. When I was a primary school student I wrote in mycomposition that I want to be a scientist when I grow up. At that age I didn'tknow what is a scientist, nor did I know what is dream. I wrote it because it'sa standard answer for a composition test. And I know if I wrote that I want tobe a peasant I would be criticized and laughed at, no matter what reason I gaveit. But now in university, one of my classmates changed my idea. Life is long, and we are just on the starting point. Finally we'llunderstand life is not just about making a living. There're something much moreimportant than money and material enjoyment, that is spiritual wealth, that isdream. It's the process of your pursuit of dream, the process when you aretrying, when you are seeking, when you are struggling, when you failed andrestarted again and again with your determination, hardwork, and perseverancethat make you, build you, and help you to lead a worthy and significative life,whether you'll achieve your dream or not, the result is not that important.

I don’t know who wrote these words, but I’vealways liked them as a reminder that the future can be anything we want it tobe. We are all in the position of the farmers. If we plant a good seed ,we reapa good harvest. If we plant nothing at all, we harvest nothing at all.

We are young. “How to spend the youth?” It is a meaningful question. Toanswer it, first I have to ask “what do you understand by the word youth?” Youthis not a time of life, it’s a state of mind. It’s not a matter of rosy cheeks,red lips or supple knees. It’s the matter of the will. It’s the freshness of thedeep spring of life.

I learnt a lot there. I’d liketo share it with all of you. Let’s show our right palms. We can see three linesthat show how our love.career and life is. I have a short line of life. Whatabout yours? I wondered whether we could see our future in this way. Well, let’smake a fist. Where is our future? Where is our love, career, and life? Tellme.Yeah, it is in our hands. It is held in ourselves.

We all want the future to be better than the past. But the future can gobetter itself. Don’t cry because it is over, smile because it happened. From thepast, we’ve learnt that the life is tough, but we are tougher. We’ve learnt thatwe can’t choose how we feel, but we can choose what about it. Failure doesn’tmean you don’t have it, it does mean you should do it in a different way.Failure doesn’t mean you should give up, it does mean you must try harder.
