Hello everyone. I believe that most of you have heard about HAlloween. Today, I drafted a short conversation about this popular holiday in the U.S..

J: Hey Laura, we are going to haunted house this Saturday night, are you coming with us?

L: Is that for Halloween?

J: Of course! Halloween is coming!

L: Sounds interesting. Actually I am curious about Halloween.

J: You want me to give you a brief introduction of Halloween?

L: Sure.

J: Halloween is a holiday celebrated on October 31 every year. Long time ago, people believed that witches gathered together and ghosts roamed the world on Halloween. So, going to haunted house is very popular for Halloween celebration.

L: Oh, I see. I saw a lot of people buying pumpkins.

J: Yes, people carved a smile face on one side of the pumpkin. A candle is usually placed inside. In addition, dressing up in costume is a popular custom for celebration as well. I bought a vampire costume last year, it was funny.

L: Do we need to dress up when we are going to haunted house?

J: It’s up to you. I am tired of buying costumes.

L: I also saw kids wearing costumes and knocking the doors to ask for candies.

J: It is trick or treating, which is popular for young kids. They dressed in different costumes and asked for treats like candies from house to house. If they don’t get any treat, they may play a trick on that house.

L: Thanks for letting me know so much about Halloween. You are so nice. Thanks for inviting me, I am going to that haunted house with you.

J: All right! I will pick you up on Saturday at 7pm.

L: Ok, I will see you then.

J: Bye.

再見!
