連詞的作用就是連接句子,詞,短語,按其在句中的功能,句子可分爲並列句,主從複合句.不同的連詞引導的句子種類也不同.如:and, but, so, or一類連詞通常引導並列句;if, as soon as, though, the moment, as…as… than 等,考生在備考複習中,可從句式分析的角度入手,把握句子的類型,通過句式,掌握連詞的用法,辨析連詞在不同句式中的意義差別及用法特點.連詞在並列句中的用法及連接詞,短語這裏不再討論,連詞引導從句的功能以下表爲例:

　　英語虛詞有哪些

虛詞包括介詞、連詞、冠詞、感嘆詞等四類。

連詞 conjunction / conj.：連接詞、短語或句子，如and, but, or等。

介詞 preposition / prep.：表示詞彙之間的關係，如in, on, at, for等。

冠詞 article / art.：限制名詞，即a (an), the。

感嘆詞 interjection / int.：表示強烈的感情，如ah, oh, alas等。

英語裏有不少詞可以屬於幾個不同詞類，如sleep既可屬於動詞，也可屬於名詞;early既可屬於形容詞，也可屬於副詞;after既可屬於介詞，也可屬於連詞;since則既可以是介詞和連詞，也可以是副詞。
