else的用法1：else的基本意思是“另外的”“別的”“除去”“其他”。有時也可表示“否則”“要不然”,它是or else省略or的用法。在日常口語中, else有時用在句中僅起強調作用,而實際上它並沒有增添什麼新意思。
else的用法2：else用來修飾疑問代詞(who, whose, what, whoever, whatever)或疑問副詞(why, when, where, how),以及以any-, every-, some-, no-與-body,-one,-thing, -where 合成的複合不定代詞和much, little, all, a great〔good〕 deal等數量詞,在句中作後置定語,但在which後不可用else。
else的用法3：當all, a good〔great〕 deal, a lot, a little, much等與else連用作主語時,謂語動詞須用單數形式。
else的用法4：當else後面跟着but, except或besides和一個賓語時, else是多餘的,應刪去。
