如何快速簡短地回答一個英文問題？也許你需要“P R E”！
首先，請大家試着用3-5句快速回答下列問題（下列題目均選自iSpeak愛口語App大學英語四級和六級口語模擬題）：
1. Which Chinese dish do you like best? Why?
2. What type of family do you prefer, the big family or the small one? And why?
3. Do you think it's easy to get along well with all the people around you? Why?
看到上面的三個問題，很多同學頓覺頭疼腦熱，無從下手，其實，大家離答案只有三個字母的距離，
也就是 “三字母回答策略”，這就是“P-R-E”法。
“P-R-E”法解讀
其實，“P-R-E”分別代表的是 point, reason,和elaboration 。
這三個單詞看起來並不稀奇，絕大部分同學都認識，但是具體如何將它應用於簡短問答環節呢？我們來看一個例子（下列題目均選自iSpeak愛口語App大學英語四級和六級口語模擬題）：
Question: What type of family do you prefer, the big family or the small one? And why?
這裏分爲兩問：第一問爲封閉式提問，第二問爲開放式提問。第一問我們的回答策略是牢牢抓住字母 P，即亮出自己的 point。而第二問則需要字母 R 和 E 來幫忙，即先說明 reason，然後對原因進行一個 elaboration。接下來我分別舉例說明兩問的回答策略。
第一問封閉式提問的特點是問題具體、明確、範圍狹窄，通常爲一般疑問句或者以 what、which 引導的特殊疑問句。如果問題是一般疑問句，我們的 point 就是肯定或否定的回答（yes/no）。
比如：
- Do you think the examination in China is too competitive?
- Yes. The examination is quite competitive from a student's point of view.
如果問題是以 what、which 引導的特殊疑問句，我們的 point 就是直截了當地回答出問題的重點，用什麼提問就用什麼回答。
比如：
- What is your favorite sport?
- My favorite sport is tennis.
所以回到最初的問題上來，“What type of family do you prefer, the big family or the small one?” 這一個問句其實已經告訴我們回答的範圍，其功效相當於以 which 引導的問句，所以我們的回答可以是 “I prefer the big one” 或者 “I prefer the small one”。
第二問開放式提問的特點是對回答的內容不進行嚴格的限制，讓回答者有充分的發揮空間，對答案進行詳細的闡述。開放式提問大部分以 why 來引導，所以我們的回答就應該先說出 reason。
比如：
- Why do you join the reading club on campus?
- Because I like the salons that the reading club holds each week.
但是當被問到爲什麼要加入讀書俱樂部時，如果僅僅一句“因爲我喜歡閱讀俱樂部每週舉辦的沙龍”便戛然而止，顯然信息量太小，不能提供給提問者足夠多的內容。所以我們還需要 elaboration，即對原因進行進一步的詳細闡述。詳細闡述可以理解爲提問者多問了一個 why，也就是在我們回答了 “Because I like the salons that the reading club holds each week” 之後，提問者又問了一句 “Why do you like the salons?”，這個時候就可以進一步回答“These salons provide us with opportunities to participate in different book sharing activities.”。
上述例子是一個較爲簡單的問題，我們用一組“R-E”即可應對。但有時候問題往往較爲複雜，比如爲什麼我們愛自己的父母，這種問題顯然有多方面的原因。所以，應對複雜問題，我們往往需要多組“R-E”。並且，爲了使回答的條理更加清晰，每組“R-E”之間還需要使用連接詞或詞組。
比如：
- Why do you like traveling by air?
- Because it's time-saving and convenient. It would only take two hours to fly to Hainan instead of 20 hours if you go by train. Meanwhile, the elegant air is the safest way of transportation according to some statistics.
上述回答中，“Because…by train”爲第一組“R-E”，從“Meanwhile”開始則爲第二個P。當我們的回答中包含多個原因時，至少保證第一個原因有詳細闡述就可以了。
回頭再看最初的問題，對於“Why do you prefer the big family?”這個較爲簡單的問題，我們可以用一組“R-E”來回答：
“Because I am the only child in my family. Both of my grandparents are very happy to stay with us. I don't want to let them down.”

大學英語四六級口試
大學英語四級口試的“簡短問答”環節緊跟“短文朗讀環節”，此部分要求考生回答考官提出的兩個問題。第一個問題與朗讀短文的內容相關，第二個問題與朗讀短文的主題相關。每題的答題時間爲20秒。

Question: I'd like to ask you a question. What do you love to read? Why?
參考答案: Well, I love to read fashion magazines most. Firstly, they can relieve my pressure and help me relax. The clothes and accessories displayed in the magazines are totally eye-candy. More importantly, as a fashion design major, I can also use them as a learning tool. They not only keep me informed about the current fashion trends but also offer me inspiration for my work.
參考答案解析：
“Well, I love to read fashion magazines most.”這句爲point，回答了第一問。What提問就用具體某一種類的書fashion magazines來回答，簡明扼要。
“Firstly, they can relieve my pressure and help me relax.”爲第二問的第一個reason，支撐了我喜歡讀時尚雜誌這個point。
“The clothes and accessories displayed in the magazines are totally eye candy.”爲第一個 reason 的 elaboration。
“More importantly, as a fashion design major, I can also use them as a learning tool.”爲我喜歡讀時尚雜誌的第二個 reason。其中 “more importantly”爲連接詞，使整個回答層次分明有邏輯。
“They not only keep me informed about the current fashion trends but also offer me inspiration for my work.”爲第二個 point 的 elaboration，具體說明了時尚雜誌是怎樣成爲我學習的工具。
