《傲慢與偏見》內容簡介：
小說講述了Bennet一家五位千金的婚姻與愛情，表達了婚姻必須建立在愛情和經濟兩個基礎上的婚姻觀。傲慢而深情的達西先生成爲小說塑造的一個經典形象。簡奧斯丁的語言簡練而幽默，反覆品味，趣味無窮。

翻譯例句：

翻譯要點：
上面句子中entertain一詞，大家通常瞭解的意思是“娛樂、招待、款待”，然而這個詞還有另外一個常見的用法，就是表示“心懷、懷有、抱有（某種希望、想法等）”。我們可以說entertain a hope，或者entertain an idea。小說中的這個詞可以就簡單翻譯成“很想、很希望”。

英譯漢例句：
1.I wouldn't entertain any idea of quitting my current job.
我不會辭去現在的工作。

2.A few of us actually entertained the notion of auditioning for American Idol.
我們中間有幾個人還考慮過參加美國偶像的海選。

漢譯英應用：

最後，還有另外一個大家也很熟悉的詞，可以表達這裏entertain一樣的用法，但是很不正式，那就是flirt，flirt with an idea也可以表達“考慮，琢磨”的意思，但是不能用於正式文本當中。
