這兩個字的拼法雖然不同，但讀音卻完全相同，都讀/swi: t/，因此，它們是一對同音異義詞（homonym）。

Sweet可以用作名詞和形容詞。作名詞時常用複數；英國人用sweets，美國人用candies。意思是“甜品”、“糖果”。
People like to have sweets as the dessert．
人們在餐後喜歡吃點糖果作爲餐後的甜食。
作形容詞時，其意爲“甜蜜的”、“芳香的”。例：
This milk tastes sweet．
這奶嚐起來有點甜味。
請注意，sweet milk是“新鮮牛奶”； sweetened milk 是“加糖的牛奶”，都不是表示“甜奶”之意。
Suite只能用作單數，意思是“一套房間”、“一套傢俱”或“一組樂曲”。例：
