247. 一到新加坡，我的朋友就在機場等我。
[誤] On arriving at Singapore, my friend was waiting for me at the airport.
[正] On arriving at Singapore, I found my friend waiting for me at the airport.
注：凡是帶有介詞的動名詞，或是單獨的分詞，必須有一個意義上的主語，來配合這個動作。到達新加坡的是“我”，而主句中的主語卻是“我的朋友”，動作不能配合，所以是錯誤的。介詞 before 與 after 的情形和 on 一樣，故下面的兩句也是錯的：After finishing his work, I paid him. Before reading the text, the vocabulary should be learned.
