你會說"爽約"嗎? 跟學口語
大家都知道,stand up是站起來的意思,但如果加上一個someone,含義就變成了"爽約":
A: I'm sorry for being late. The bus was stuck in a traffic jam for half an hour.
不好意思我遲到了,公車堵了半小時.
B: Well, I was afraid you would stand me up.
我都擔心你會放我鴿子呢.
如果一個人老是放別人鴿子那肯定是很討人厭的了.
要表示"失約",還有另外一個說法,就是 break an appointment,不過這是表示"失約date"以外的約會,例如:
You'd better not break your appointment with the lawyer.
