首先，回答Edward同學的提問，如何表達“下崗了”，to get laid off:
My friend got laid off last week due to frequent sickness. 我的朋友上個星期下崗了，因爲他老生病。
Come to office on time, otherwise you'll get laid off pretty soon.　按時來辦公室，否則你很快就會下崗。
Many workers got laid off resulting from the economic recession.　經濟蕭條使得很多工人下崗了。
下面，講講“把某事提前到某個時間”的表達法：bring … forward to… ，在“to”的後面，放上具體提前到的某個日期：
Shall we bring our marketing review forward to this month? 我們是不是該把市場回顧一事提前到這個月？
Let's bring our meeting forward to tomorrow. 讓我們把雙方的會晤提前到明天吧。
So I was wondering, rather than delaying things any longer, could we bring everything forward to the 14th? 因此我想，爲了不讓事情一拖再拖，還不如我們提前到14號。
I'd like to bring the final exam forward to this Friday. 我想把期末考試提前到這個星期五。
Can you bring our coffee date forward to 6 pm? 你能把我們的咖啡約會提前到6點嗎？
