　　What has been your biggest disappointment on thejob?

　　在工作中最令你感到沮喪的事是什麼?

I still remember the disappointment that I hadabout eight years ago.

我至今還記得八年前一件令人沮喪的事。

when I first participated in bidding for a client's work.

那是我第一次參與爭取某客戶的投標工作。

We were one of the last two bidders that the client considered among a handful that applied,butwe lost the job to our main competitor.

我們是衆多投標公司中僅存的最後兩家之一，但是最後我們卻輸給了最大的競爭對手。

Our project team spent many late nights working on the bid.

我們的項目組爲了準備那次投標，好多天都工作到深夜。

Our competitor had an advantage because they had worked with that client before.

我們的競爭對手之前曾承攬過那家客戶的業務，所以在這點上佔了優勢。

It was a new client for us and I must say our competitor understood the needs of the clientbetter.

對我們公司而言，這家客戶是新客戶，而且我不得不說，還是我們的對手更瞭解客戶的需求。

We were so disappointed and determined that we would get this account,

我們非常沮喪，並且決定一定要爭取到這家客戶，

so we analyzed what went wrong and the client's mission,market and needs,as well as looked atwhat our competitor did right.

於是我們針對到底哪裏出了問題，對手做的好的地方，甚至對客戶的宗旨，市場，需求全部做了分析。

About six months later,we had another opportunity to bid for the same client's job,and we gotit.

大約半年過後，又有一次可以爭取這家客戶的投標機會，我們中標了。

We were very proud of it.

我們爲此感到非常自豪。

　　How do you measure your own success?

　　你如何衡量自己的成功?

How much satisfaction I get from doing the job andhow much I contribute to the success of theorganization I work for.

成功與否是以我能從工作中得到多少滿足感和我對供職單位的成功做了多少貢獻來判斷的。

I don't think success can be measured by the amount of money you make,

我認爲成功不能用賺錢的數量來衡量，

as I have met a number of wealthy people who aren't satisfied.

因爲我見過許多有錢人，他們並不滿足。

　　What is success to you?What about failure?

　　對你而言，什麼是成功?什麼是失敗?

Success to me is meeting,and as often aspossible,even exceeding my potential.

對我而言，成功是儘量發揮自己的潛力，甚至去超越它。

It is being a successful and ethical leader of people,

成功是成爲一位有成就，有道德的領導者，

and ultimatyly I hope it’s rising to the position where the success of failure of a company sits onmy shoulders-in other words,

並且我希望最終的成功是能夠一肩扛起整個公司的成敗。換言之，

one day I hope and aim to be a CEO.

我希望有一天能夠當上首席執行官。

That's within my potential,

我認爲自己有這個潛力。

I believe,and I won’t be satisfied until I reach that position and then excceed the expectationsof those who elevated me to that post.

在未升到這個職位，並超越一路提拔我的人對我的期待之前，我是不會滿足的。
