The person I’d like to talk about is Davy. He helped me a lot when I was studying in the university. Both of us majored in Math, and he was also my classmate.

He was tall, hmm, around 1.79metres. He did know he had some advantages. He joined the school team to play basketball as a forward. I watched several matches he was in, and all of our classmates would root for him. He always got good scores.

Though he’s awesome, in other aspects too, he's really humble, for he never showed off his skills no matter how good he was at it. I quite appreciated that. He had a good command of computer stuff, and to me, it saved my life at some moments. Once I was staying up late for my graduation paper, but I don’t know why somehow my laptop just broke down. I mean, it suddenly turned off, and it must go wrong for I couldn’t start it. I was driven to mad. What if I lost all my files, especially my paper? I have to finish it in a day. Tomorrow is the deadline to hand it in. I felt like it was a doomsday for me. Then, it dawned on me, Davy! Davy is a computer geek. Maybe he can solve it! I couldn’t wait one more second and rang him. Thanks god, he answered the phone. After listening to my “heartbroken” story, he said he would like to help. Then we decided to meet in the library at 6.00, the opening time of the library. With his efforts for almost two hours, my laptop could work again. The luckiest thing was all my files were good. Saying thank you, I grabbed my laptop and rushed back to my dorm to go on. Everything went well, and I handed in my paper in time.

We would always support each other whenever help is needed. I think we are really good friends.

Describe a person who was helpful to your work or study.

You should say:

Who it was;

What this person did;

How this person helped;

and explain how you felt after this person helped you.

解析:

題目要求描述一個對你工作或者學習有幫助的人。需要告知這個人是誰,ta做了些什麼,如何幫助你的,並且闡述一下這個人在幫助你之後的一些感受。

My colleague Jenny was the answer to the question. She is a warm-hearted and smart girl. The first two months in my current company was a hard time when I met all kinds of difficulties. I couldn’t adapt to the new environment or catch the pace of the company. But as a newbie, I really wanted to perform well. Everyone seemed unfriendly and cold except her. Jenny saw through my awkwardness and uneasiness in the first week because I was always the latest one to leave. One day she seemed to intentionally wait for me for a long time to go with her and asked me what she could do for me. Since we were in the same department, I was very thankful to her kindness. I expressed my confusions and helplessness of my work. She gave me some useful advice and time management plans. Offering her working experience, she showed a great sense of understanding to my situations. In the following days, she even encouraged me to communicate with other colleagues. Everything began to be on track since then.

I once asked Jenney that why she was willing to offer me so much help during that time. She said she thought that I was a great and ambitious girl. And more importantly, I looked like her little sister. Oh my god. It’s my look that plays a role! However, I will appreciate her kindness all the time. The story told me to be more open minded to a new environment. There are always nice guys who are willing to make contacts with you. Moreover, try to become a warm-hearted and enthusiastic person just like Jenny. Be a torch that will illuminate others’ dark sky, which is also worthwhile to remember when you are old.

Ok, so i'd like to talk about a person that i know has done a lot of work to help people, is my grandmother on my father's side. She lived near my childhood home back in the United States and I used to go to her house every, uh, almost every other weekend, umm, because we had a big family and so we'd have lots of events up at my grandparent's house. And, you know, my grandmother did to help people, well, i think there are lots of things...

But one of the main things is that she used to volunteer at a hospital, umm, reaaly often. You know, i was young so i don't know exactly how often she would volunteer but it was definitely a common thing. And i remember my parents talking about this when i was younger and stuff like that. But i really felt it when i was back visiting home one time and i had to visit the hospital for something. And while was waiting a lady come out and talked to me and she said she had known my grandmother and worked with her when she was at the hospital. And that she was always so impressed and really admired, umm, my grandmother and her kindness and how much she gave to the people around her. So that was quite an interesting conversation for me. And i really felt like it was meaningful and my grandmother had been doing meaningful things for the people around her. Um, you know, other than at the hospital of course she took care the people in my family so she would host birthday parties and make lots of different kinds of food always giving to other people so i think she set a really good example in that sense and um, i hope that i'll be able to be a giving and helpful person like she was in the future.
