雅思口語Part 1話題解析：Flower

雅思口語考試總共分爲三個部分，其中Part1是衆多考生認爲最爲簡單的一個環節，可是在這個較易的部分中也會有出現一些讓考生很頭疼，瞬間詞窮的話題，例如“Flower”，該話題曾出現於2010，2011, 2012年的口語考場上，在今年也同樣有出現。不少考生大呼這個話題太讓人無話可說，大家紛紛表示對花不感興趣，在日常生活當中幾乎不碰觸花，不需要花，何來話語可說。其實，這個話題並不是像考生想象中的如此之難。

在“Flower”這個話題中，考官通常會圍繞四個方面來提問：是否喜歡花，花的使用性，花的意義以及送花的場合。

第一個方面：是否喜歡花，“Do you like flowers?”對於這個問題，很多學生會容易在答案的邏輯性上出差錯。大多數學生的真實想法是：我無所謂，不喜歡也不討厭。很多考生會爲了方便易於回答而乾脆選擇與自己內心想法不同的答案表示“I love flowers”，這個回答本身是沒有任何問題的，在口語考試中，“撒謊 ”是OK的。這裏最需要考生注意的一點是之後的解釋說明是否有邏輯性。如果考生表示自己是愛花之人，那麼接下來的解釋說明則務必要做到能夠自圓其說，要讓考官覺得你的答案是convincible 的。舉個例子，考生在回答完“I love flowers”之後接着說 “ I normally send flowers to my mum on Mother’s day”. 考官聽後表示不理解，答案的邏輯有問題。在考官看來，既然喜歡花，爲什麼只有母親節才能送花呢?所以如果你的回答是表示我非常喜歡花，那麼接下來的順理說法應當是我平時很喜歡送花給家人或是朋友，而不是僅僅只有母親節送花。又或者你可以舉其他的例子來證明你是個愛花的人，例如：我很愛種花，在我的陽臺上種有各種各樣的花卉。倘若考生自己對花真的沒有任何興趣，也是可以如實對考官說的。

接下來的第二個方面：花的使用性，“How do people use flowers in your country?” 很多考生在被問到這個問題時會覺得沒有什麼idea，不知從哪說起。其實在我們國家,人們會在很多地方用到花，主要體現在三個方面：

1. 用來裝飾( decorative purpose)在中國有許多家庭喜歡擺放一些花在客廳或是自己的臥室裏，覺得賞心悅目，因此我們可以告訴考官：“ People like to decorate their houses with flower arrangements, they create soothing atmosphere for you and your family members.”

2. 表達愛意(expression of love)　無論是西方情人節還是七夕情人節，鮮花往往成爲我們首選禮物被用來表達愛意。而表達愛意的花當屬玫瑰，它代表着愛情，rose is the most helping and element which conveys heartiest feeling。

3. 泡花茶(floral tea)不少中國人有喝花茶的習慣。菊花茶，茉莉花茶，玫瑰花茶等等在日常生活當中都非常受歡迎，在大家看來，花茶可以美容護膚，美體瘦身，保健養生。所以人們對花的利用不僅僅是在欣賞上，並且還可以用來泡茶，floral tea does benefit our well-being and beauty。

口語part範文內容：我喜歡卡特蘭——巴西的國花。這種植物需要充足的光線和空氣才能生長，溫度需要相對溫暖，以保持其平穩的生長。由於其簡單的種植方法，這種花在所有人當中都很受歡迎，包括專業的和業餘的園丁。

I love Corsage Orchid – the national flower of Brazil. Importantly, the flower grows in every condition but needs warmer temperature. I have a pot containing the flower at my room and they are growing very well. I keep the flowers in my room for their fragrance. They make a vibrant smell in the room. Often people term the flower as orchid queen for extraordinary features.

The plant requires ample light and air to grow. A moderate temperature is a must for the plant to bloom. The temperature needs to be relatively warm and should remain between 50 – 70 degree Fahrenheit both in day and night time for its smooth growth. But the growers are mindful to protect leaves from burning. Better if someone can manage an open area to grow the plant. Due to its easy growing method, the flower is popular among everyone including the professional and amateur gardeners.

Brazil is located in eastern part of South America. The climatic condition of the country supports the growth of such flower plants. Consequently, the flowers are available in plenty in Brazil. The history of Corsage Orchid to get the national flower status is interesting. Someone discovered this strange flower from some random leaves in Brazil and a few years later, the flower bloomed and enchanted everyone.

Corsage Orchid looks gorgeous. The flower fragrance makes me feel relaxed. The outer beauty of Corsage Orchid is adorable and when blooms, it takes a wonderful look. I love the particular fragrance I get in my room. The amazing colour of the flower enhances the room beauty. A large variety of the flower makes it more attractive to people. They shine brightly. So, I like the flower very much.

Do people in your country ever use flowers for special occasions?

Flowers are widely used in many occasions and festivals in our country to represent for a blessing, happiness and good luck. Most families have at least one kind of plants or flowers at home.

What are the occasions when people give or receive flowers?

A bunch of flowers is considered as a gift for a wide range of occasions for both people to send and receive flowers. For example, in a birthday party, Women’s day, or Valentine’s day, colorful flowers are arranged nicely in a small vase and given to each other.

In your country, do people (ever) give flowers as a gift?

Yes, they do. As mention above, flowers play an essential role in different occasions as a special gift for people to show love to one another. People, especially girls, are happy and pleased when they receive their favorite flowers from beloved ones on their birthday.

When was the last time you gave flowers to someone?

It was a couple of weeks ago when I bought a bouquet of flowers as a present for my mom. She was deliriously happy when receiving it and put in in the sitting room so that everyone in my family can admire its beauty too.

備考雅思口語的同學們要明白一個事實，那就是：雅思口語中未必一定要說真話。因爲通常，真話是我們根本就不瞭解這個話題，就算能說出來，恐怕和其他學生也差不多，是一個既無趣又單調的答案。這樣一個答案，在雅思考試中肯定不能獲得理想的分數。所以，只要答案是合情合理，前後不矛盾，我們就可以使用。總之，在談話中，我們要做的只是一個忠實的story teller。

本着這樣一個原則，我們就可以着手準備素材了。在這裏談幾個準備的方法。

首先要學會做有心人，平時和同學、朋友聊天，要多注意收集他人的人生經歷。比如一個同學繪聲繪色地描述了他去雲南遊玩的經歷，即便你本人沒有去過雲南，也可以把這一段話改編成一段出色的雅思口語trip題答案;

其次，如果確實對於某個話題感到無話可說。我們可以藉助現在最爲發達的網絡平臺來尋找答案。例如在準備describe a park這道題目的時候，南京同學往往會將目標鎖定在Xuan Wuhu lake park上，所以我們會聽到許多同學描述完全相同的事物，如There's a zoo indside of it, and there're different kinds of animal in it, such as…這樣的描述確實難以令考官產生興趣。那麼如果我們藉助網絡來搜索答案，又可以得到什麼結果呢?在Google或者維基百科(Wikipedia)中，我們輸入關鍵詞 Disneyland, California, 就能得到全部的關於加州迪斯尼的資料。從這個公園產生的背景，到這個公園各個部分的簡介。比如關於其中一個叫做 Redwood Greek Challenge Trail的景點，我們得到了以下信息：

Redwood Creek Challenge Trail (opened February 8, 2001) : A play area for kids, featuring a Mount Shasta wilderness-like setting and suspension and wire bridges. It also features rock climbing and a Brother Bear scene cave. It is also designed for adventurous adults.

這段文字描述加上旁邊配上的圖片，能讓我們清楚瞭解這一個景點的具體情況。那麼我們稍稍將這段話做一點點改編和擴充，把它當作是我們自己的經歷，就是一小段不錯的談話。

Well, I don't have a certain favorite attraction in particular, but if I have to say, I'd probably say it is Redwood Creek Challenge Trail. Actually, it's a play area for kids but it also attracts a young adult like me for its design. It is a mount shape background with a exciting suspension and wire bridge, and also a cute brother bear cave which even fascinates a lot of adults.

不難看出，上面一段口語答案和關於Xuan Wuhu Lake Park的描述，無論從評分的哪個角度，都是關於Disneyland的這一段獲勝。

不過在網絡搜索的過程中，切記三個原則，第一，搜索的關鍵詞要具體不要抽象，如果搜索describe a park，就不如搜索一個具體的公園Disneyland得到的信息多;第二，得到了文字信息之後，一定要在資料的基礎上進行改編，因爲得到的資料是書面語，我們要將它修改成口語稿才能使用;第三，一定要反覆對着鏡子練習自己的說話方式，把這些句子熟練掌握，內化爲自己的觀點，並能把它自然地說出來，而不是“背”出來，如果考官發現是在背誦而不是敘述，肯定會給你一個很低的分數。
